Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe Opens a Brick-and-Mortar Concept Store

New Brick-and-Mortar Concept Store Opened at the Leonardo

The founder and executive chairperson of African Fashion International (AFI), Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, spoke to CNBC Africa about her decision to open a brick-and-mortar concept store in the midst of a pandemic.

In conversation with Fifi Peters, Dr Moloi-Motsepe details the business case for the newly launched concept store House of Nala, located at the Leonardo in Sandton. A prime location for living and shopping, frequented by local and international high net-worth individuals, the House of Nala is positioning itself as a destination for discovery by curating the best of African creativity.

An extension of AFI’s e-commerce boutique, which has latest offerings from pan-African designers, the concept store is expanding the available merchandise of House of Nala into artisanal home décor, fine art and literature.

While Fashion Weeks have been shaped into digital platforms, the concept store is a physical space for clients of African designers to view collections, assess quality and build trust with the brand. While the pandemic has shifted businesses online, the value of personalised shopping experiences remains influential within the luxury marketplace.
